Workers are going on strike at the world’s largest copper mining operation. Workers reported that the owners weren’t being very reasonable when it came to discussing wages and benefits. It is said that the strike will causes copper prices to rise. The strikers include the union and 2,500 workers.
I feel as if there should never be a reason for workers to go on strike. Since chile has the largest copper mining operation , the country depends on its copper exports. With this strike how will Chile meet any special deadlines that they need to? Or how will these workers live without the pay that they need.
Copper is a very important industry in Chile and makes up a good percentage of their global output. If the workers are on strike and the mine is not producing copper because of that then how will Chile continue to meet their goals or even keep up financially. The whole copper mine is important in keeping Chile up and running.
